Eco Volunteer Week

Eco Volunteer Week

To continue Lafarge’s strong relationship with the Hamilton Conservation Authority, Lafarge pledged $10,000 throughout 2012 and 2013 to support HCA’s Outdoor Education program. This program is designed to augment classroom learning in biology and environmental science education by teaching local school children about the environment in a practical outdoor setting in the beautiful Dundas Valley.

In May 2012, Lafarge Dundas employees put on some hip-waders and volunteered their time to participate as Eco-Volunteers for two days at the Dundas Conservation Area focusing on aquatic stream ecology and animal survival adaptations. Lafarge Dundas was the first corporate sponsor to take an active role as an Eco-Volunteer, as part of the HCA’s Outdoor Education program – allowing our local employees to have a positive impact first-hand on the environmental education of our youth from the Hamilton Area. Due to all the fun we had last year, the Lafarge Dundas team was back at it again in May 2013. We have found so much value in participating directly in this educational program that we are already looking forward to what the 2014 season will bring Lafarge has recently renewed our pledge as a corporate sponsor of the Outdoor Education Program for 2014 with an additional $5,000.
